A letter to you from the Conner Family

Sue Conner Vauthier -- A selfless and life-long giver, a comforter to those she met

As you are aware, in March of 2004, our daughter and sister Sue Conner Vauthier passed away at the age of 49. Compassionate, a selfless friend to those whose life she touched, a powerful light for those experiencing pain, Sue was, in all things, God's joyful and loving face to everyone who knew her. She was a servant to all, embodying the qualities of a healer and a comforter... and as many of you have experienced, a giver of great, awesome hugs!

A radiant individual, people were always made to feel at ease, feel joyful and feel comforted because of her unconditional love and desire to give with no strings attached. People were drawn to Sue, not because she sought the attention of others but because they sought and felt comforted by the joy in Christ that navigated her life. Sue's life calling was as a dedicated and valued nurse. Passionate about serving the patients who were entrusted to her care, she served and cared for patients in St. Mary's ministry for over 18 years, providing Sue with her start and with the vehicle to serve others, which she did with relentless dedication throughout her career.

Realizing Sue's life embodied the very qualities of those called to a life of service, our family, in conjunction with St. Mary's Foundation has established a nursing scholarship to honor her memory and through that memory, impact the lives of generations to come. The fund is established to assist nursing students with their continuing education. Distributions will be determined by a committee under the supervision and direction of the Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer of St. Mary's Medical Center, including representatives from our family.

Realizing the many people that have been touched by Sue's life, we want to invite you to participate in extending the influence of a truly great person for future generations by making a donation to the Sue Conner Vauthier Memorial Scholarship Fund. Today we give thanks for Sue and a life well lived and are inviting you to be part of helping to continue the legacy of Sue's life. Also, St. Mary's Foundation, through certain benefactors of the hospital, is supporting the establishment of the scholarship fund with a 100% matching contribution for every dollar contributed by December 31, 2005!! If you are unable to contribute at this time, we ask you to please offer your prayers for the success of the scholarship campaign.

Enclosed is an overview of the scholarship fund, and details as to how you can participate if you are so led. You can also go to www.sueconner.org and learn more about Sue's life and the legacy she has left behind. For those of you close to Sue, please share a thought on the website as to how she impacted your life. Thank you for allowing the family and friends of Sue this opportunity to ensure the legacy of a truly Godly servant.

Sincerely,
